Money Isn’t My Motivation—And That’s Okay

I’m going to be honest—this might sound strange coming from a business owner and bookkeeper, but I’m not really motivated by money itself.

Don’t get me wrong—I like money. But for me, money is a tool, not the goal. It allows me to do the things that truly matter—spend time with my family, create experiences, and build a life that aligns with my values.

It took me a long time to realize this. In a world full of marketing messages that scream:
💰 Make more money!
📈 Hit 6-figure months!
🏆 Scale to 7 figures!

I felt like I was constantly being sold the idea that success = making more money. But for me, those messages never resonated. They didn’t drive me.

Instead, I had to dig deeper to understand what truly fuels me—and I discovered that my energy and motivation come from helping people, not chasing dollars.

A Mindset Shift: Thinking in Terms of Service, Not Sales

Over the years, I’ve worked with amazing business owners, and one thing has become clear:
🛑 Those who focus only on money often struggle.
✅ Those who focus on providing real value and service tend to see money flow in naturally.

That’s my approach. I’m not just doing bookkeeping—I’m helping small business owners thrive. Yes, they pay for my services, but my motivation is the impact I can have on their lives and businesses. When I focus on people first, the money follows.

Why a Positive Money Mindset Matters

Whether you’re money-driven or service-driven, one thing remains true:
💡 Your mindset around money directly affects how it flows into your life and business.

I’ve learned that keeping an optimistic and abundant mindset around money allows me to:
✔ Trust that more will come instead of feeling scarcity or fear
✔ Make smart financial decisions based on long-term vision, not panic
✔ Welcome opportunities instead of blocking them with negative thoughts

If you constantly feel like there’s never enough money, that belief can keep you stuck. But if you shift into an abundant mindset, you start seeing possibilities instead of limitations.

How to Strengthen Your Money Mindset

If you struggle with limiting beliefs around money, here are a few simple ways to shift your mindset:

1️⃣ Recognize Your Money Stories

We all have deeply ingrained beliefs about money, often shaped by childhood experiences. Ask yourself:
🔹 What messages did I hear about money growing up?
🔹 Do I associate money with stress or freedom?
🔹 Do I feel guilty about charging for my services?

Awareness is the first step in changing your money narrative.

2️⃣ Use Money Affirmations & Declarations

Positive money affirmations can help retrain your brain to think differently about money. I’ve put together a free set of Money Declarations that you can download and post somewhere visible as a daily reminder.

Examples of powerful money affirmations:
💬 "Money flows to me with ease."
💬 "I provide valuable services, and I am compensated accordingly."
💬 "I am open to receiving wealth in all forms."

3️⃣ Detach Money from Your Self-Worth

A big mindset trap? Tying your self-worth to how much money you make.

🚫 You are NOT your income.
🚫 You are NOT your business revenue.

Your value as a person and business owner comes from the impact you create, not just the numbers in your bank account.

4️⃣ Focus on Service & Impact

Like I mentioned earlier, when I focus on serving people, the money naturally follows.

Ask yourself:
💡 How can I help my clients today?
💡 What transformation am I providing?
💡 How can I add value to my community?

When you focus on creating real results for others, your business will grow, and financial success will follow.

Final Thoughts: Money Is a Tool, Not the End Goal

Money is an incredible resource, but it’s not the reason I do what I do.

If you’ve ever felt disconnected from the constant push to “earn more, scale bigger, hustle harder”—I want you to know you’re not alone. Success doesn’t have to mean chasing money—it can mean creating a business that supports the life you actually want.

And when you keep an abundant, optimistic money mindset, you’ll find that money flows to you in ways you never expected.

Take the First Step: Start shifting your mindset today.
